Explore Singapore Part 1

X-T20, XF 10-24mm

First, I got to say I love Singapore, this country really has its own uniqueness in architecture. The skyline, the atmosphere is just amazing.

I never do a special time to just take photograph but this time I did it. 7 Days I was there and only 4 days to take photos but I got to say 4 days is just not enough to explore all beautiful spot in Singapore.

Now I want to share where to visit in Singapore if you want to take photos there.

The gear I brought for this photo session in Singapore is shown on the picture below:

  1. Fujifilm X-T20

  2. Fujifilm X-A10

  3. Fujinon Lens XF 10-24mm f4 R OIS

  4. Fujinon Lens XF 16-55mm f/2.8

  5. Fujinon Lens XF 55-200mm f3.5-4.8 R LM OIS

  6. Fujinon Lens XF 56mm f1.2 R

  7. Samyang 8mm f/2.8 Fisheye II Lens for Fujifilm

  8. Vanguard Alta Pro 2+ 263AB 100 Aluminum Tripod

  9. FotoPro X-Go Carbon Fiber Tripod

  10. Multiclamp + Ballhead

  11. 6 batteries

  12. Macbook Pro + Wacom

  13. My Trusted iPhone X

  14. NiSi Filter set + Holder

  15. All packed in Think Tank Urban Disguise 50 V2

All weight about 9 kgs!!!! That's exclude the tripods!!!! Darn, that's pretty heavy for my first photohunt overseas.

Why I brought many lens???? The answer is simple, I didn't want to miss a shot because I didn't bring the right lens. The most lens I was using are Fujinon Lens XF 10-24mm f4 R OIS and Fujinon Lens XF 16-55mm f/2.8 (so obvious ahh... LOL)

Enough with the gear talk, now let's get into the business....

Before I went to Singapore, I did some research on where to go and what to do there but off course I only manage to go to some places because of the lack of time. I will definitely explore other spot that I missed previously later when I get there again.

Here is some spot I found on my research:

  • Marina Bay Sands Area (visited)

  • Merlion Park (visited)

  • Marina Bay Sand Sky Park (visited)

  • Esplanade Bridge (visited)

  • Jubilee Bridge (visited)

  • Garden by The Bay (visited)

  • Buddha Tooth Relic Temple (visited)

  • Little Guilin at Bukit Batok Town Park

  • Tanjong Rhu Area

  • Raffles Marina Lighthouse

Those places I didn't visited because I just don't have too much time, need time to get perfect shot and sometimes 1 perfect shot cannot be done in just 1 visit (btw perfect shot depends on each photographer preference though)

Let's not waste our time talking and start the guide :p

Direction to go here is not that hard to find, if you are using taxi, just tell them u need to go to Marina Bay Sands Casino and walk not too far from there to the Helix Bridge, if u told the Taxi driver to go to Helix Bridge, they might be not aware of that. Or.... the easiest way is just showing a picture to them to where you want to go.

If you are using the MRT, just ask on the officer before you ride in the MRT and ask them where to stop. Singapore actually is not that hard to explore but still we need some direction to save the time.

On the first day I went to Marina Bay Sands Area and headed to Helix Bridge spot and do some scouting in the morning, I love the calmness of the water but the city lights was not that great, many lights are off. And the biggest disappointment was the Helix Bridge lamp was off too. That's why I skipped this morning shot and return in the sunset hour.

The Bridge's LED lamp was off, in the morning but the water was calm

X-T20, 10mm, iso200, f8, 4s

Bridge's LED lamp was on on sunset and the building's lamp was on too mostly

Set the cameras portrait and landscape for different composition. Though, I could not find a better view than this angle. I didn't use any filter on this kind of shot (cityscape, nightscape) but I did get bracketing shot just to recover that blown out highlight on the billboard sign.

So That's all for the now guys.... stay tune for part 2 :) Enjoy the pictures, would really appreciate the feedback on the writing since blogging is pretty new to me.... writing is not as easy as it looked apparently LOL. Hope you enjoy it guys!!!
